Code Enforcement & Land Use

The Planning and Zoning Department provides advice and direction on a wide variety of land use issues, from adjusting lot lines and preparing a property for subdivision and development to processing requests for use and density variances.

The Construction Department is accountable for permitting, inspecting and monitoring many building and construction projects, including new / temporary buildings, additions, renovations, and demolitions.

The Municipal Clerk acts as secretary for Franklin Township and the Township Committee, serves as chief registrar, accepts applications for licenses and permits, and manages township records.

Municipal Court

Franklin Joint Municipal Court serves Franklin Township and Buena Borough, and shares services with Newfield Borough Municipal Court. It is an independent branch of government constitutionally entrusted with the fair and just resolution of disputes in order to preserve the rule of law and to protect the rights and liberties guaranteed by the constitution and laws of the United States and this state.
